What impression does your waiting room give?

First Impressions

The lobby or waiting room is the first thing that people see when coming to your office. If you are trying to run a successful business, image is very important. That first impression can mean a lot. So your reception room furniture should be appropriate for the type of business and environment that you are running.

Keep the pieces of your reception furniture coordinated with one another as well as the overall décor of the waiting room. That includes carpeting, wall paper or paint, light fixtures and more. This coordination subtly shows that you are organized and efficient. Do not have six waiting chairs made of different materials and colors. Rainbows are nice to look at outside but they should not inspire the furniture in a lawyer's office.

If you are a pediatrician with chairs that are bright red, yellow, green and orange, along with tables in the shapes of race cars and rocket ships, clearly this creates a fun atmosphere for children. But that same furniture would be sorely out of place in an accountant's office, unless you are investing Monopoly money. Use the reception area furniture to convey a sense of professionalism and trust.

Look for reception furniture sets at places like BizChair.com to match the room and type of setting you want.
